Vibrant places for those who give so much
Our landmark 1942 building, Station 1, which stands as a beacon and flagship for volunteers and the community the true home of the Ocean Park since its construction. The facility has seen numerous additions over the years without much updating. After eight decades of daily use, a equipment and volunteers that grown in numbers exponentially, and tremendous advances in technology, we must upgrade and renovate our space from top to bottom. This transformation will meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s emergency medical services needs!
We need an updated building to complement the groundbreaking work we do to provide the City of Virginia Beach with the best pre-hospital emergency care. The building’s first full renovation since 1982, the project will honor the structure’s history while improving its interior spaces, mechanical systems, and usability to the volunteers who spend so much time serving their community.
Key improvements include an enlarged living space, a new destination for volunteers to maximize recruitment & retention efforts, a vibrant space with enhanced amenities and accessibility for visitors as well as infrastructure and storage upgrades to improve the long-term conservation and security of the Rescue Squad's life saving equipment.
